Are you experiencing difficulties at school or work? Get free, confidential support from a helpline in Belgium today.

School and work are realities that few of us can avoid. When problems there become unbearable, it's easy to feel like you are somehow to blame. We are all unique. What’s easy for some may be trickier for others. There are 5 helplines in Belgium to reach to for support if you are experiencing any of the following:

  • Have considered hurting yourself or others to end your daily troubles at work or school.
  • Use drugs, alcohol or self-harm to distract yourself from your problems at school or work.
  • Often feel overwhelmed, anxious, restless and unable to relax or concentrate.
  • Have intense school or work related anxiety, stress, fear or worry.
  • Have thoughts of violence, self-harm or suicide because you feel trapped by school or work.
  • Avoid classes, school or work by faking symptoms, illnesses or engagements such as family events.
  • Pretend that you are sick, nauseous or hurt so that you can avoid attending.
  • Have difficulty following lessons or instructions, and feel unable to focus.

If daily troubles at school or work are affecting your mental wellbeing, you’re not alone. Many people experience social anxiety, with difficulty interacting and fitting into groups. Others have trouble staying organised, comprehending lessons and tasks, or even remaining still and focused when in class or at the office.

Distress at school and work should never get in the way of your ability to learn, perform, interact or thrive. You have the potential to succeed, but you need support. If your concerns and negative feelings persist for weeks, months or longer, it might be time to reach out to a volunteer or counselor at a helpline in Belgium for support.
