Get free support from a suicide hotline in British Columbia, Canada

If you are having suicidal thoughts, it can be hard to talk about. However, thinking about suicide is very common and you are less alone than you think. In British Columbia, Canada, there are 10 suicide hotlines (helplines and crisis lines) who are there to listen. Suicidal thoughts can look like any of the following:

  • Wanting to disappear
  • Feeling like you don't deserve to go on
  • Feeling trapped or stuck
  • Thinking there is nothing worth living for
  • Feeling deep and constant despair
  • Feeling like you wouldn't be missed if you were gone
  • A sense of finality, as if there is no other choice
  • Having urges to hurt yourself

Feeling suicidal suggests that you're experiencing serious emotional distress. When you're flooded with strong negative emotions, it may seem like there are no solutions to your problems. Taking your life is not the way out, there are other ways to end the pain you're feeling.

How you're feeling is completely okay. There is nothing wrong with you for feeling or thinking how you do. It may be difficult to talk about what you're experiencing, but there are patient crisis line counselors and volunteers in British Columbia, Canada who want to listen and help you.
