Contact a suicide hotline in Ontario, Canada for free support

If you're experiencing suicidal thoughts, you're not alone. Suicidal thoughts aren't talked about very much, but many people experience them during their lives. There are 28 suicide hotlines (crisis lines or helplines) in Ontario, Canada that can help. If you're not sure what suicidal thoughts look like, they might look like any of the following:

  • Feeling like your own health and wellbeing no longer matter
  • Feeling like there is no end in sight to the pain you're feeling
  • A deep sense of hopelessness
  • Feeling like you wouldn't be missed if you were gone
  • Feeling deep and constant despair
  • Feeling or thinking you are worthless
  • Thinking there is nothing worth living for
  • Feeling like nothing matters anymore

When you're experiencing severe emotional distress, you may feel desperate to relieve your pain. Suicide is not the answer. It may feel like the only way to manage problems that seem unbearable, but it's not. There are always other options and there is always hope for a better tomorrow.

How you're feeling is completely okay. There is nothing wrong with you for feeling or thinking how you do. It may be difficult to talk about what you're experiencing, but there are patient crisis line counselors and volunteers in Ontario, Canada who want to listen and help you.
