Unplanned pregnancy? Find out about your options from a helpline in China.

If your pregnancy was unplanned, you may be considering what to do next. Falling pregnant unexpectedly is quite common but it can be experienced in different ways by different women. If you're battling with any of the following, help is available from one of 15 hotlines in China.

  • Feeling regret like you made a big mistake.
  • Feeling alone, like you have nobody to turn to for advice or support.
  • Being in a state of shock or denial about the pregnancy.
  • Feeling guilty for not having prevented the pregnancy.
  • Being concerned about whether you'd make a good parent.
  • Concerned about raising the baby as a single mother.
  • A fear of being judged if you try to talk about the pregnancy and your options.
  • Feeling both positive and negative emotions at the thought of going through with the pregnancy.

Not every woman will respond to an unplanned pregnancy in the same way. Some women may feel devastated, while others may feel indifferent, and others feel happy – or a combination of all three. There's no shame in feeling the way you do, whatever that looks like.

With an unplanned pregnancy, you may have a lot of questions. It can be tough to know where to turn to for support, especially if you're not ready to tell anyone. A helpline volunteer in China will offer you confidential and compassionate support that you can trust.
