Contact a hotline in Fiji for help supporting a loved one with mental health problems.

Mental health problems affect about 13% of the global population. When it seems like a loved one is battling with their mental health, you might be struggling yourself to know how to support them. If you notice these signs in someone you care about, reach out for advice from one of 3 hotlines in Fiji.

  • They are easily startled.
  • They have started using substances like alcohol or drugs more often.
  • They have become more withdrawn.
  • They have mentioned that they have the intention to hurt someone else.
  • You don’t hear from for days or weeks, when you used to hear from them often.
  • They have stopped caring about their physical appearance.
  • They have suddenly lost or gained a lot of weight.
  • They are seeing or hearing things that are not really there.

If you've noticed a change in a loved one's attitude or behavior, it can be scary. It's normal to feel worried and unsure about what you can do to help. Simply being there for your loved one, even in small ways, can be extremely valuable.

If you feel alone in supporting a loved one through a crisis, then reaching out to a helpline volunteer in Fiji could help. A helpline volunteer will offer you trusted advice on how to be there for the person you care about while looking after yourself at the same time.
