Struggling with your gender and sexual identity? Get support from a LGBTQ-friendly hotline in England

If you’re questioning your sexual orientation or gender identity, or if you’re experiencing problems as a result of identifying as LGBTQ, you’re not alone. If you're struggling with any of the below, there are 6 helplines in England that you can reach out to for support.

  • Feelings of anxiety about not being accepted for who you really are
  • Experiencing homophobia or transphobia from family or friends
  • Feeling like how you are on the outside doesn't represent who you are on the inside
  • Feeling like your sexuality is different from those around you
  • Feeling like there's something wrong with you for not having any sexual desires
  • Feeling sexually attracted to people of the same gender as you
  • Wanting gender-affirming hormone supplements or surgery
  • Feeling constrained by gender norms

As an LGBTQ person, you deserve to be accepted, respected, and loved for who you are. If you’ve been treated unfairly by others because of your gender or sexual identity, it’s normal to feel intense negative emotions. Loneliness, confusion, and thoughts of suicide are often experienced by LGBTQ people.

No matter where you're at on your journey with your gender and sexuality, there are people who can walk through it with you. There are LGBTQ-friendly hotlines in England. Speaking to someone who cares about what you're going through and who will listen to you without judgement can help you feel less alone.
