Are family matters negatively impacting on your life? Reach out to a hotline for free support in Ireland

Families can be complicated. If personality clashes, violence, substance use, illness, trauma or other problems at home are causing you fear, stress or pain, you are not alone. There are 10 hotlines in Ireland for people struggling with family issues. If you are experiencing any of the following, reach out for a helping hand today:

  • Frequent yelling, screaming, bickering or fights within the family.
  • Family members who ask too much of you or depend on you for support.
  • Problems caused by a lack of money for resources such as food, clothing and accommodation.
  • Job loss, financial struggles or gambling and the impact these can have on your family.
  • Family members who don’t support you due to issues of trust, miscommunication or abuse.
  • Stress in the family, caused by issues with housing, money or unemployment.
  • Parents or siblings who argue, fight, bully or try to control each other and you.
  • Family issues around domestic violence, sexual abuse, divorce, bereavement or trauma.

Experiencing problems at home is extremely challenging because it may feel like there is nowhere for you to escape to. When the people you live with are the source of your pain, home may no longer feel like a safe haven.

Family challenges can be hard to solve because there may be many people involved. It can be difficult to even know where to start. Reaching out to a compassionate hotline volunteer or counselor in Ireland can be a positive first step. You may benefit from voicing your frustrations to someone who wants to listen, understand, and support you.
