Contact a hotline in Italy for help supporting a loved one with mental health problems.

Watching a loved one experience what resembles an emotional crisis can be hard. It's normal to be worried and to wonder how and whether you can help. There are 2 hotlines in Italy that you can contact for free advice, if your loved one is experiencing any of the following:

  • They are easily startled.
  • They seem to have a “I don’t care” attitude.
  • They seem secretive, like they're hiding something.
  • They have suddenly lost or gained a lot of weight.
  • They reject invitations to spend time together or hang out.
  • They are not doing activities that they used to do before.
  • They have told you they are struggling emotionally.
  • They have started posting worrying content on social media.

When someone you love is suffering, it can hurt you too. If you don’t know how to help, it’s normal to feel powerless. You can be there for your loved one in small ways and still make a big difference.

If you're worried about a loved one's mental health and you're not sure what to do, help is available. You can contact a hotline in Italy and get support from a volunteer who cares. A helpline volunteer can guide you in how to help a loved one who is struggling.
