Find support for abuse and domestic violence from a hotline in Kenya

Domestic abuse is any action or behaviour from a partner or spouse, girlfriend/boyfriend or family member that aims to control you. For some, this is physical violence, for others it takes the form of verbal, emotional, sexual or financial abuse.

If you are in Kenya and you are exposed to violence, 2 hotlines that support with abuse and domestic violence are available to you. You do not have to bear that burden in quiet, alone. Reach out if you are noticing these signs:

  • Your partner/family member yells at you
  • Your partner/family member has an unpredictable, violent temperament, and they direct the anger at you
  • Your belongings and property being destroyed
  • Avoiding certain topics so that you don’t anger your partner/family member
  • Being exposed to intimidation and coercion
  • Your devices are being monitored or tracked by a partner/family member
  • You are embarrassed for your close ones to see how your partner/family member treats you
  • Being forced to have sex or perform other sexual activities that you don’t want to

After months or years of abusive behaviour from your partner or family member, you might doubting yourself and your sanity. However, this is your abuser talking. The abuse, and everything associated with it, is not your fault.

There is no universal recipe for setting free from abuse and domestic violence. However, know that many women, children, and men in Kenya have made it. The first step in the process is opening up to a trusted and understanding person. Then, you can find your way out.
