If you have been through a traumatic experience affecting your life, know that you don’t have to go through it alone. Reach out to one of 1 helplines across Kenya. If you aren’t sure if you have PTSD, then read through these common symptoms and see if you can relate:

  • Overwhelming negative emotions such as guilt, shame, sadness and anxiety
  • Self-harming or destructive behaviour
  • Experiencing 'hypervigilance' or extreme alertness
  • Being unable to remember details of the traumatic event
  • Noticing tastes, smells or sounds connected to the trauma
  • Becoming isolated, withdrawn and avoiding social situations
  • Continued negative thoughts about a traumatic experience
