Feeling anxious about attending school or work? Contact a hotline in Malaysia for support.

School and work are realities that few of us can avoid. When problems there become unbearable, it's easy to feel like you are somehow to blame. We are all unique. What’s easy for some may be trickier for others. There are 8 helplines in Malaysia to reach to for support if you are experiencing any of the following:

  • Constantly feel tired, withdrawn and depressed, wishing you could be anywhere but at work or school.
  • Experience intense shyness, anxiety and low self-esteem when interacting on tasks with others.
  • Have difficulty following lessons or instructions, and feel unable to focus.
  • Constantly feel tired, lazy, sad or depressed, wishing you weren’t at work or school.
  • Have powerful feelings of anger, defiance, frustration, rebellion and the sense that this is unfair.
  • Often absentee yourself for headaches, flu, injuries and stomach bugs that you don’t really have.
  • Find certain tasks or skills difficult or impossible to master, when others find them easy.
  • Have intense school or work related anxiety, stress, fear or worry.

If daily troubles at school or work are affecting your mental wellbeing, you’re not alone. Many people experience social anxiety, with difficulty interacting and fitting into groups. Others have trouble staying organised, comprehending lessons and tasks, or even remaining still and focused when in class or at the office.

Distress at school and work should never get in the way of your ability to learn, perform, interact or thrive. You have the potential to succeed, but you need support. If your concerns and negative feelings persist for weeks, months or longer, it might be time to reach out to a volunteer or counselor at a helpline in Malaysia for support.
