There are 4 helplines you can call in Norway if you're feeling lonely. Everyone feels lonely sometimes and there's no shame in seeking support. Loneliness can look like:

  • Feeling disconnected from everyone else.
  • Increased feelings of stress or anxiety.
  • Feeling that your physical and/or mental health is suffering.
  • Feeling unseen or unheard by others.
  • Being unable to develop deep, meaningful connections with others.
  • In extreme cases, thoughts of self-harm or suicide.
  • Feeling fatigued and low in energy.
  • Feeling a sense of emptiness like there's a void that needs to be filled.

Nobody is immune to loneliness, not even social butterflies. Loneliness is usually experienced when you feel emotionally disconnected from others. Feeling disconnected from others can make you feel empty, like there's a painful void in your life that needs to be filled.

Talking to someone who cares about what you're experiencing can help you feel less alone. Calling a hotline will connect you with someone like this. Helpline volunteers and counselors in Norway will offer you a listening ear and will work through difficult emotions with you.

If you think you might need support with loneliness, consider contacting a helpline in Norway for free, confidential help.
