Many women, children, and men in the world are victims of domestic abuse– this is any behaviour that maintains control over a spouse, partner, family member, or girlfriend/boyfriend. Abuse may be expressed physically, emotionally, verbally, sexually, or financially, and you may feel threatened, controlled or coerced.

Setting free from an abuser may feel impossible. You are probably terrified and feel trapped. However, many victims of abuse and domestic violence have made it. With the help of 5 hotlines in Slovakia that support with abuse and domestic violence, you can live without having to endure these symptoms of abuse:

  • Your partner/family member yells at you
  • Being taken advantage of financially
  • Your partner/family member has told you they will commit suicide if you leave
  • Your belongings and property being destroyed
  • Your devices are being monitored or tracked by a partner/family member
  • Your partner/family member constantly checks up on you
