If you’re struggling with someone who uses power, position, strength or popularity to degrade and belittle you, you’re a victim of bullying. If you’re being bullied at home, school, work, or online, you’re not alone. There are 24 helplines in California, United States provided by people who understand how lonely you feel. Consider contacting a helpline if:

  • Others have openly excluded you from social groups or activities.
  • You have had rumours spread about you, or frequently been blamed for things you didn’t do.
  • One or more people has repeatedly called you names and teased or humiliated you.
  • You have been victimised by cyber-bullies who share secrets, rumours or negative comments about you.
  • Someone has shared private, negative, false or harmful pictures, content or rumours about you.
  • One or more people have repeatedly sworn at, called names, taunted or physically harassed you.
  • You have been taunted, teased, threatened or harmed by others.
  • Someone has repeatedly made inappropriate or discriminatory comments about you.

These are all ways in which bullies might try to boost their status at your expense, making you feel shamed, isolated and small. Yet, bullying in no way reflects who you truly are, what you’re capable of achieving, how you actually look, or how much you are valued by others.

Right now, you might feel helpless, excluded or afraid. You may be unsure about contacting a helpline for support because of how you have been treated previously. However, helpline staff in California, United States are well-trained in helping people like you who have been bullied. You will be treated with kindness and understanding.
