Reach out to a hotline in United States for support with substance abuse and drugs or alcohol addiction

If you or someone you know is abusing substances, or struggling with drug and alcohol addiction, you may not know where to turn. Fortunately, support is available in United States from 20 helplines for substance abuse. If you or a loved one has been experiencing any of the following, reach out today:

  • Low mood including feelings of hopelessness, sadness or depression
  • Stealing money or selling items to afford to buy drugs or alcohol
  • A loss of interest in activities previously enjoyed.
  • Using substances as a way to relieve negative or uncomfortable emotions.
  • Marked changes in attitude and personality.
  • Sleeping at strange hours of the day or night.
  • Using under dangerous circumstances, for example drinking and driving.
  • Using illegal means to obtain drugs or alcohol.

If you've tried to stop using substances like drugs or alcohol on your own without any success, you may feel defeated. It may be hard to imagine a way out. However, a large proportion of people make a full recovery with time and proper support.

Crisis counselors are available to support you whether you are the one struggling, or whether you're concerned about a friend or family member. You can get free, confidential, zero-judgement support for substance use and addiction from a hotline in United States.
