The Women Shelter provides 24/7 helpline for women that are victims to domestic violence and also for relatives, professionals or others that seek counselling concerning intimate partner violence. Well trained counsellors answer the phone. They speak Icelandic and English. The Women Shelter in Iceland has for more than 40 years, provided shelter for Women and Children that need to leave their homes due to domestic violence. It also provides education about the subject of different forms of domestic violence and support to relatives or professionals concerning how to deal with such situations.
