We know it's not always easy to verbalize what we feel or the doubts we have. It's often difficult to explain our fears and anxieties, but we know we need to talk. At ILGA Portugal, we have some resources that can help you. Venting and talking to someone you don't know is often easier, and that's why the LAL – LGBTI+ Support Line exists. If you're looking for a safe space where you can vent and/or clarify doubts, anonymously and confidentially, you can contact the LGBTI+ Support Line. Aimed at conversations and helping combat isolation and loneliness, but also to clarify doubts and forward requests for support in a variety of areas, the line aims to reach all people who have no other means of accessing support and information. It is a telephone service providing support, information, and clarification of doubts, focused on the LGBTI+ population and their families, or people questioning their identity, regarding sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and sexual characteristics. The line is run by a team of volunteers, trained and experienced to listen to you, and operates anonymously and confidentially. We don't ask your name, we don't call you back, and we don't share our conversations with anyone.
