The helpline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for women victims of domestic violence and homelessness in Mauritius, offering them a listening ear, information on their rights, advice on judicial and administrative procedures, and guidance on the different aids and support offered by the Ministry of Gender and other ministries. Passerelle is a non-governmental organisation founded in 2015 to cater for the lack of an emergency shelter in the country for women victims of all types of violence, mainly victims of domestic violence and homeless women. Passerelle provides emergency accommodation on a 24/7 basis, a secured environment and support to victims. As victims are mainly women and their children, the shelter is opened to women and their children only.
