About Scotland's Domestic Abuse and Forced Marriage Helpline

Scotland’s Domestic Abuse and Forced Marriage Helpline offers free and confidential support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by phone, text, WhatsApp, web chat, or email. It is for anyone with experience of domestic abuse (from a partner or ex-partner) or forced marriage, as well as their family members, friends, colleagues, and professionals who support them.

The helpline team have a specialist understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse and forced marriage, and the options available for support in Scotland. If you are experiencing domestic abuse, think that you might be, or are concerned about someone else, the helpline is here for you.

The helpline welcomes calls from everyone and supports people of all ages, genders, abilities, sexual orientations, nationalities and backgrounds. It is managed by Scottish Women’s Aid, in partnership with Respect.

Helpline workers will always listen to you and believe you, and can also:

  • Give you information about domestic abuse or forced marriage
  • Direct you to agencies that may be able to help you
  • Give you emotional support
  • Offer crisis intervention in emergency situations
  • Give you practical information about a range of things such as housing support
