The Victims of Crime Helpline is a (free call) telephone service that provides a first step for people affected by crime to access information, support, and referrals. The Helpline operates from 8am-7pm Monday - Friday, and 8am-5pm weekends and public holidays.
The main sources of referral to the Helpline come from Victoria Police, community organisations and client self-referrals. The Helpline provides:
· A supportive listening environment for victims of crime
· Information about victim entitlements and the criminal justice system
· Information about the legal process, including after the offender is in jail, and
· Connections to other support services, such as the Victims Assistance Program.
