AWEL LISTENS TO ALL CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE WITH A QUESTION, A STORY, A PROBLEM. When you contact Awel, a volunteer will listen to you. It's okay if you're a little nervous; that's perfectly normal. The counselor will support you. You can take your time and tell us everything you want. We'll write a concise report of your story and ensure no one knows it's about you. After your contact with Awel, we will not contact you or follow up. Contact with Awel is generally a one-time affair, but you are, of course, welcome to call, chat, or email again. You'll likely receive a response from someone else, who might have a slightly different style, but every counselor works according to the same Awel principles. A volunteer is unpaid. Awel volunteers do their work primarily because they care about children and young people. They have been trained by Awel as counselors and therefore know exactly how to listen to you. When you call or chat, you may have to wait a bit or be unable to get in, as there aren't enough volunteers to answer all the calls from children and young people. We're doing everything we can to accommodate more and more conversations. You can also ask a question or share an answer with peers via Awel's forum, which is also moderated by underage Awel volunteers, known as J-Awel.
