About SURPIN Helpline Nigeria

The SURPIN (Suicide Research and Prevention initiative) Helpline is a 24-hour hotline that offers counselling, support, and referral services to Nigerians who are depressed, anxious, abusing substances, or who are thinking of taking their own lives. For those who might need it, we have a strong referral network across the nation that can provide for physical counselling. We have counsellors who can speak the other two main languages in Nigeria as well as a hotline specifically for Hausa speakers.

With presence across 35 states and the FCT, SURPIN is the most organised and comprehensive national organisation in Nigeria dedicated to preventing suicide. We have around 130 members, including clinical psychologists, social workers, psychiatrists, mental health specialists, and guidance counsellors. For network referrals, we rely on our members.
