About Helpline Mauritius

Helpline Mauritius is a free and confidential listening and counselling service operating across Mauritius and Rodrigues since 2010. It provides a safe, non-judgmental space where individuals can access emotional support through phone, chat, and email, making the service widely accessible and inclusive.

The helpline supports adolescents, youth, adults, families, and individuals from diverse communities. Young people often seek help for issues such as relationships, bullying, academic pressure, stress, and emotional well-being, while adults reach out for support with family difficulties, anxiety, and personal or social challenges. Its key focus areas include mental health, emotional well-being, relationship concerns, substance use, bullying, and general life stress.

The service aims to provide early intervention, emotional support, and appropriate referrals when needed. Outside operating hours, individuals can leave a message via the website and receive a response from a counsellor as soon as possible. Awareness campaigns are also conducted in schools, colleges, and communities to promote mental health and encourage help-seeking behaviour.

In addition, Helpline Mauritius collaborates with legal professionals to offer pro bono legal advice in selected cases, providing both psychosocial and legal support where required.
