Free helplines for loneliness are available in Greece

There are 2 helplines you can call in Greece if you're feeling lonely. Everyone feels lonely sometimes and there's no shame in seeking support. Loneliness can look like:

  • Feeling hopeless, like you'll be lonely forever.
  • Feeling that nobody "gets" you.
  • Feeling worthless and full of self-doubt.
  • Experiencing sleep problems such as insomnia, or interrupted sleep.
  • Loss of confidence.
  • Feeling that life is meaningless.
  • Feeling that your physical and/or mental health is suffering.
  • Increased desire to binge-watch TV shows or movies.

Everybody is prone to feeling lonely, even in the company of others. It's especially common to feel lonely when you're not connecting with others in a meaningful way. When you're not connecting with others in a way that meets your social needs, you may feel extremely isolated.

You may be reluctant to ask for help, especially if it feels like nobody will relate to you and understand what you're going through. But getting help can relieve the emotional burden you're carrying and help you feel less isolated. There are compassionate helpline volunteers and counselors in Greece that want to support you.
