Don't grieve alone. Get help from a grief support hotline in South Africa

Healing after a loss takes time. The pain of the loss can feel so intense that you don't know how to cope or where to turn. Talking openly about the loss can help you feel better. In South Africa there are 3 support lines you can contact. Grieving can look like:

  • Feeling that life is meaningless
  • Feeling emotionally unstable, like you're on an emotional rollercoaster
  • Having a hard time concentrating and remembering things
  • Feeling regret about things that were left unsaid
  • Preoccupation with the loss and with reminders of your lost loved one
  • Feeling more irritable than usual
  • Feeling guilty about not having prevented the death or loss
  • A feeling of deep sadness and emptiness

It's normal to feel many different emotions when you're grieving. If you've never experienced grief or loss before, this can be scary. It might feel like you're losing control. However, what you're feeling is a completelty normal response to a significant loss.

You may feel that nobody will be able to relate to how you're feeling. However, there are people in South Africa who are open to hearing about your experiences and they want to support you. Talking openly about how you feel and having someone to listen to you can help you feel less alone.

For free and confidential support with grief or loss, consider contacting a hotline in South Africa today.
