About Lifeline

Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support and information by phone, text message (SMS) and online chat. We help everyone in Australia who may require support with anxiety, depression, gender & sexual identity, self-harm, suicide.

We are dedicated to preventing suicide. If you are contemplating suicide or wanting to kill yourself, we will listen without judgment and support you.

When you reach out to us you will talk with one of our trained and supportive counselors or volunteers who will collaborate with you to find solutions while giving you an empathetic and compassionate ear. They have expertise and understanding in how to help people going through difficulties similar to what you are. We support people of all ethnicities, genders, beliefs and ages. We are here for everyone. Our helpline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We are always ready to support you.

Lifeline telephone crisis support is available in Australia only 24 hours, 7 days. To chat to a Crisis Supporter online, the chat service is available Monday to Sunday from 7pm-12am (AEST).
