If you feel as if your family life is sometimes too much to bear, you are not alone. There are others who understand how unhappy, isolated, anxious, exhausted, confused or frustrated you may feel. If you struggle with the following, there are 7 hotlines in British Columbia, Canada where you can reach for the support you deserve.

  • Job loss, financial struggles or gambling and the impact these can have on your family.
  • Family members who ask too much of you or depend on you for support.
  • Problems caused by a lack of money for resources such as food, clothing and accommodation.
  • Serious family issues such as divorce, addiction, loss of a family member, or sexual abuse.
  • Stress in the family, caused by issues with housing, money or unemployment.
  • Perfectionism, pressure or abuse from your parent, guardian, sibling or spouse.
  • Frequent conflicts about everyday things and differences of opinion, beliefs or behaviour.
  • A parent or sibling who suffers from addiction, mental illness, illness or disability.

Without a warm, loving and safe home to return to at the end of the day, life can seem cold, dark and lonely. Home may not feel like home at all to you. Feeling like you need to avoid your family at all costs can be a horrible position to be in.

Family challenges can be hard to solve because there may be many people involved. It can be difficult to even know where to start. Reaching out to a compassionate hotline volunteer or counselor in British Columbia, Canada can be a positive first step. You may benefit from voicing your frustrations to someone who wants to listen, understand, and support you.
