Feeling anxious about attending school or work? Contact a hotline in Malawi for support.

School and work are unavoidable. So, when interactions, activities and tasks start to seem overwhelming, it can impact every aspect of your life and mental health. Everyone is different, what comes easily to one may be challenging for another. In Malawi, there are 4 helplines you can contact for confidential help if you:

  • Constantly feel tired, lazy, sad or depressed, wishing you weren’t at work or school.
  • Have considered hurting yourself or others to end your daily troubles at work or school.
  • Often absentee yourself for headaches, flu, injuries and stomach bugs that you don’t really have.
  • Feel overwhelmed by lessons, tasks and activities and unable to handle the stress.
  • Feel excessively tired, depressed, hopeless, withdrawn, or consider turning to drugs or alcohol.
  • Have trouble understanding tasks, assignments and lessons, and feel left behind or inadequate.
  • Constantly feel tired, withdrawn and depressed, wishing you could be anywhere but at work or school.
  • Experience intense shyness, anxiety and low self-esteem when interacting on tasks with others.

Interacting with peers and colleagues can be challenging. You may have trouble expressing yourself, saying the right things, or fitting into groups, but you are not alone. Your challenges at school or work may also stem from pressure or heavy workloads, sensory impairment, learning disabilities, and more.

When negative feelings about school or work start impacting your ability to thrive, it might be time to speak to someone. You have the potential to find your voice and succeed, but sometimes you can only do this with support and understanding. Consider contacting a helpline in Malawi for free, confidential help.
