If you or a loved one is struggling with substance use, such as drugs and alcohol addiction, you’re not alone. Substance use disorders and substance-related problems affect millions of people each year, but the good news is that they are treatable. If you notice any of the following symptoms, reach out to one of 6 helplines in Malaysia.

  • Needing more drugs or alcohol to feel the same effects (otherwise known as tolerance).
  • Having a short temper and being more irritable and aggressive than usual.
  • Inability to stop using drugs or alcohol despite repeated attempts.
  • Erratic changes in mood, or mood swings.
  • A loss of interest in activities previously enjoyed.
  • Experiencing unpleasant side-effects (otherwise known as withdrawal symptoms) after stopping drugs, alcohol or other substances.
  • Low mood including feelings of hopelessness, sadness or depression
  • Using more of drugs or alcohol than was originally intended.

It can be difficult to admit that you have a substance abuse problem and that you need help. It takes a lot of strength to take the first step, but when you do, you'll be that much closer to healing and recovery.

You can speak to a trusted counselor about substance-related problems today. Contact a free, confidential hotline in Malaysia for help. Whether you just need someone who will listen to you with an open mind, or whether you're looking for recovery resources, hotline volunteers are available and ready to support you.
