If you’re unsure whether you identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender, you’re not alone. It’s normal to question your sexual and gender identity. Whether you're questioning and need support, or you’re confident in your identity but you're experiencing other issues, there are 11 hotlines in New York, United States that can help you with the following and more:

  • Wanting to come out but not knowing how
  • You aren't sure how to date or flirt with members of the same sex
  • Wanting gender-affirming hormone supplements or surgery
  • Feeling like there's something wrong with you for not having any sexual desires
  • It's distressing to think about being stuck in your current body
  • Experiencing homophobia or transphobia from family or friends
  • Wanting to express your gender differently
  • Feeling frustrated and angry that your assigned gender at birth doesn't match who you are

As someone who identifies as LGBTQ, or as someone who is questioning their gender or sexual identity, you may feel isolated. Unfortunately, there are still people out there who are homophobic and transphobic. Worrying about social rejection can make it hard to express your true self with pride.
