Struggling with eating and body image concerns? Contact a helpline in Malaysia for support.

It's normal to feel disatisfied with the way your body looks some days. But you don't deserve to feel this way most days. Poor body image can lead to disordered eating. If you have any of the following symptoms, there are 7 free hotlines in Malaysia that can help you:

  • Lying to others about whether you have eaten so you can skip meals.
  • Over-exercising as an attempt to control weight and make up for eating too much.
  • Excessive thinking about food, eating, and body weight or shape.
  • Mood swings due to hormonal imbalances and nutritional deficiences.
  • Trying to control your body weight/shape by vomiting, laxative abuse, or excessive exercise.
  • Comparing your body shape and/or weight to others.
  • Poor circulation that causes cold hands and feet.
  • Eating large portions of food and being unable to control yourself or extreme food restriction.

You may feel bad about how far your disordered eating has gone. Disordered eating and poor body image can cause feelings of shame and guilt. Often, these feelings make people want to withdraw from others.

Talking to someone about what you're experiencing can bring up uncomfortable feelings. You may wonder whether a stranger will understand you or how they can help. Crisis line counselors in Malaysia are trained to help people cope with problems like yours. They will listen to you, support you, and give you appropriate guidance.

If you feel like you might need support with your body image or eating disorders, try reaching out to a hotline in Malaysia. It's free and confidential.
