The following are just some examples of anxiety symptoms:

  • Increased heart rate
  • Feeling like you're out of control
  • Changes in appetite
  • Trembling, sweating, or feeling clammy
  • Feeling irritable or on edge
  • Feeling weak or exhausted by your thoughts
  • Restlessness, fidgeting, or can't seem to sit still
  • Sudden shortness of breath

It's normal for anxiety to impact thoughts, feelings, and even physical sensations. Everyone's experience is different, which can make it hard to know what's happening when you've never experienced it before. Some people feel a mild sense of anxiety most of the time. For others, they may experience sudden and severe anxiety to the degree that they feel like they are experiencing a heart attack or dying.

Although anxiety can make you feel alone in your struggles, what you're going through is very common. There's always help available in Canada, and someone to help you understand and manage your anxiety.
