Reach out to a LGBTQ-friendly hotline in Canada today

If you identify as LGBTQ or if you’re undecided about your gender or sexual identity, you may be more prone to depression and mental health problems. This is especially true if you experience discrimination, bullying, and rejection. If you struggle with any of the following, reach to a hotline in Canada – 6 are available:

  • Dealing with trauma related to your sexuality or gender
  • Not wanting to put a label on your gender or sexuality
  • A sense of wrongness about the gender you were assigned at birth
  • Feeling like your sexuality is different from those around you
  • Feeling frustrated and angry that your assigned gender at birth doesn't match who you are
  • Wanting to change your physical appearance
  • Anxiety around coming out to others
  • Wanting to express your gender differently

As someone who identifies as LGBTQ, or as someone who is questioning their gender or sexual identity, you may feel isolated. Unfortunately, there are still people out there who are homophobic and transphobic. Worrying about social rejection can make it hard to express your true self with pride.

Figuring out your sexual and gender identity can be hard and overwhelming if you're dealing with it on your own. Fortunately, there are LGBTQ-friendly volunteers and counselors in Canada who can act as your allies and offer you the support that you need.

If you think you might need support with your gender & sexual identity today, consider contacting a helpline in Canada for free, confidential help.
