Contact a suicide hotline in New Zealand for free support

If you're experiencing suicidal thoughts, you're not alone. Suicidal thoughts aren't talked about very much, but many people experience them during their lives. There are 11 suicide hotlines (crisis lines or helplines) in New Zealand that can help. If you're not sure what suicidal thoughts look like, they might look like any of the following:

  • Feeling like there is no end in sight to the pain you're feeling
  • Losing your motivation to keep going
  • Making plans for ending your life
  • Feeling like you wouldn't be missed if you were gone
  • Thinking you're going to feel this way forever
  • Looking up information about how to kill yourself
  • Feeling like you can't cope with the pain anymore
  • Feeling deep and constant despair

A suicidal crisis is a normal response to very severe psychological pain that won't go away. You may be at a point where you're struggling to find the strength to get through one more day. It may not seem like it, but there is hope. You can heal your pain without ending your life.

It's normal to feel like nobody will get you when you're feeling suicidal. It may even feel like you're beyond help. But crisis supporters don't think so. Crisis supporters in New Zealand want to help you and they are available 24/7 to lend a listening ear.

For free and confidential support with suicide, consider contacting a hotline in New Zealand today.
