Is your home-life causing stress due to family problems? Contact a hotline in United Kingdom for support

Trouble at home can impact every part of your life, including school, work, relationships, and your mental and physical wellbeing. Families should support you, so when they become the problem, it really hurts. You’re not alone, there are 21 hotlines in United Kingdom where you can get the support you need. Reach out if you're experiencing the following:

  • Job loss, financial struggles or gambling and the impact these can have on your family.
  • Family members who ask too much of you or depend on you for support.
  • Problems caused by a lack of money for resources such as food, clothing and accommodation.
  • Serious family issues such as divorce, addiction, loss of a family member, or sexual abuse.
  • Stress in the family, caused by issues with housing, money or unemployment.
  • Perfectionism, pressure or abuse from your parent, guardian, sibling or spouse.
  • Frequent conflicts about everyday things and differences of opinion, beliefs or behaviour.
  • A parent or sibling who suffers from addiction, mental illness, illness or disability.

Without a warm, loving and safe home to return to at the end of the day, life can seem cold, dark and lonely. Home may not feel like home at all to you. Feeling like you need to avoid your family at all costs can be a horrible position to be in.

You may feel alone if you're experiencing family problems. You may think that nobody else has been through what you're going through and that nobody will relate. However, there are hotline volunteers and counselors in United Kingdom who care about the challenges you're facing and want to help you.
