Struggling with trauma and PTSD? Contact a free helpline in Sweden for support

Traumatic experiences happen more often than you might think. Because they are so common and frequently highly distressing, Sweden has 10 helplines to help people dealing with trauma and PTSD. Symptoms might involve:

  • Experiencing 'hypervigilance' or extreme alertness
  • Being unable to remember details of the traumatic event
  • A sensation of emotional numbness
  • Being jumpy or easily startled
  • Overwhelming negative emotions such as guilt, shame, sadness and anxiety
  • Having uncontrollable angry outbursts that might not make sense to you
  • Physical sensations such as pain, trembling, sweating or nausea
  • Flashbacks of a traumatic event

If you have any of these symptoms, reach out for help – you don’t have to be alone in your struggle. There is hope on the horizon and people who understand what you are going through.

Even though going through trauma and PTSD can feel very isolating and scary, there are people in Sweden who are here to help. Sharing how you feel is the first step towards recovery. You don’t have to face your fears alone.
