Struggling with eating and body image concerns? Contact a helpline in Sweden for support.

If you're unhappy with the way your body looks and it's affecting how you feel from day to day, you may be at risk for developing an eating disorder. Perhaps you're already experiencing eating problems. If you have any of the following symptoms, reach out to one of 9 hotlines in Sweden.

  • Withdrawal from social activities, especially ones that involve food and eating.
  • Negative self-talk related to body weight, shape, or size.
  • Eating large portions of food and being unable to control yourself or extreme food restriction.
  • Weighing yourself often, sometimes every day or even multiple times a day.
  • Dizziness and potentially fainting.
  • Feeling guilty, ashamed, and disgusted after eating too much or after eating the “wrong” foods.
  • Gastrointestinal problems such as a sore stomach, constipation, and acid reflux.
  • Poor circulation that causes cold hands and feet.

You may feel bad about how far your disordered eating has gone. Disordered eating and poor body image can cause feelings of shame and guilt. Often, these feelings make people want to withdraw from others.

Talking to someone about what you're experiencing can bring up uncomfortable feelings. You may wonder whether a stranger will understand you or how they can help. Crisis line counselors in Sweden are trained to help people cope with problems like yours. They will listen to you, support you, and give you appropriate guidance.

If you think you might need support with disordered eating or body image today, consider contacting a helpline in Sweden for free, confidential help.
