Are you finding days at school or work stressful or difficult? Get free help from a hotline in California, United States.

School and work are realities that few of us can avoid. When problems there become unbearable, it's easy to feel like you are somehow to blame. We are all unique. What’s easy for some may be trickier for others. There are 16 helplines in California, United States to reach to for support if you are experiencing any of the following:

  • Feel stressed and overwhelmed by the quantity or content of homework, tasks, assignments and projects.
  • Avoid interacting or working on tasks by withdrawing, sleeping or hiding in the rest room.
  • Experience intense shyness, anxiety and low self-esteem when interacting on tasks with others.
  • Feel so unhappy attending that you regularly find ways to avoid school, classes or work.
  • Don’t trust your peers, teachers or colleagues and feel victimised by their words and actions.
  • Feel self conscious and somehow inferior to others around you at school or work.
  • Pretend that you are sick, nauseous or hurt so that you can avoid attending.
  • Struggle to follow lessons or tasks that those around you appear to find easy.

Interacting with peers and colleagues can be challenging. You may have trouble expressing yourself, saying the right things, or fitting into groups, but you are not alone. Your challenges at school or work may also stem from pressure or heavy workloads, sensory impairment, learning disabilities, and more.

When negative feelings about school or work start impacting your ability to thrive, it might be time to speak to someone. You have the potential to find your voice and succeed, but sometimes you can only do this with support and understanding.
