Need help making a decision about a pregnancy? Reach out to a hotline in India.

Pregnancies that are unplanned or have doubts attached to them happen almost as often as planned pregnancies. So while you may feel alone, what you're experiencing is quite common. If you relate to any of the following and you're not sure what to do next, contact one of 9 hotlines in India:

  • Feeling anxious about going through with the pregnancy and giving birth.
  • Feeling guilty about choosing abortion for moral or religious reasons.
  • Concerns about your relationship and whether it'll survive if you go through with the pregnancy.
  • Worried about how and whether you could raise a baby with the father.
  • Feeling scared that your partner or your parents will reject you when they find out.
  • Being concerned about whether you'd make a good parent.
  • Strong feelings of guilt and shame about wanting to end the pregnancy.
  • Anger directed toward yourself or your partner for the pregnancy.

Right now, you might be feeling devastation, indifference, happiness, or a mix of all three. There is no right or wrong way to respond to an unplanned pregnancy. Every woman will experience it differently according to her unique situation.

If you don't know what options are available to you, or if you're not sure what option is best, a helpline counselor in India can guide and support you. A helpline counselor will listen to you without any judgment and will never guilt or manipulate you into choosing something you don't really want.
