Struggling to cope with grief and loss? Hotline support is available in India

Healing after a loss takes time. The pain of the loss can feel so intense that you don't know how to cope or where to turn. Talking openly about the loss can help you feel better. In India there are 21 support lines you can contact. Grieving can look like:

  • Anger and blame directed toward yourself, others, or God for not preventing the loss
  • An inability to find pleasure in the activities you used to enjoy
  • An increase or decrease in appetite
  • Feeling more irritable than usual
  • Body aches and pains and headaches
  • A feeling of deep sadness and emptiness
  • Feeling emotionally unstable, like you're on an emotional rollercoaster
  • Feeling regret about things that were left unsaid

It's normal to feel many different emotions when you're grieving. If you've never experienced grief or loss before, this can be scary. It might feel like you're losing control. However, what you're feeling is a completelty normal response to a significant loss.

It's okay to allow yourself to feel and experience your emotions without any shame. Nobody has the right to tell you how to feel because each person's grieving process is unique. For people in India, getting proper support can provide a space to talk about your experience openly and help you feel less isolated.

If you think you might need support with grief or loss today, consider contacting a helpline in India for free, confidential help.
