Contact a hotline for eating disorder and body image issues in Ontario, Canada today

If you're unhappy with the way your body looks and it's affecting how you feel from day to day, you may be at risk for developing an eating disorder. Perhaps you're already experiencing eating problems. If you have any of the following symptoms, reach out to one of 22 hotlines in Ontario, Canada.

  • Regularly checking your body in the mirror for flaws.
  • Monitoring calories consumed very cautiously and paying close attention to food nutrition labels.
  • Over-exercising as an attempt to control weight and make up for eating too much.
  • Experiencing strong negative emotions when thinking about your body.
  • Negative self-talk related to body weight, shape, or size.
  • Fear of gaining weight and becoming larger.
  • Distorted body image: thinking you’re overweight when you’re a normal weight or underweight.
  • Lying to others about whether you have eaten so you can skip meals.

It can be hard to deal with the feelings of shame and guilt that so often accompany negative body image and disordered eating. Admitting that you've lost control and that you need help may feel harder than keeping your problems to yourself.

Opening up about how you're feeling may seem scary, but crisis counselors are trained to be supportive and non-judgemental. So you can rest assured knowing that when you call a helpline in Ontario, Canada, you will be treated with warmth, acceptance, and understanding.

If you feel like you might need support with your body image or eating disorders, try reaching out to a hotline in Ontario, Canada. It's free and confidential.
