Get free, confidential support from a depression hotline in Ontario, Canada

Depression is a common mental health problem that affects millions of people worldwide. When you're depressed you feel sad on most days and you may find it difficult to keep up with life's demands.

If you're in Ontario, Canada and this sounds like you, then 27 hotlines are available and ready to support you. Consider reaching out if you notice these signs and symptoms of depression:

  • You could feel slower in your movement, speech, and reactions than usual
  • Things that used to bring you joy mean nothing to you now
  • You feel worthless and deserving of disgust
  • You could be sleeping excessively
  • Sometimes, you feel dead inside
  • You feel down in the dumps
  • You don’t care for your hobbies or work
  • You became irritable for no reason

Depression can be a response to a loss or great stress in your life. However, it can also happen for no obvious reason. Both experiences are fairly common but depression can make it feel like nobody will relate to what you're going through.

Depression can make you feel like a burden to others so you may be hesitant to ask for help. However, there are helpline volunteers and counselors in Ontario, Canada who care about your situation and want to help. Sharing your feelings with a compassionate listener can help you feel supported and less alone.
