Struggling with your gender and sexual identity? Get support from a LGBTQ-friendly hotline in Ontario, Canada

If you’re questioning your sexual orientation or gender identity, or if you’re experiencing problems as a result of identifying as LGBTQ, you’re not alone. If you're struggling with any of the below, there are 25 helplines in Ontario, Canada that you can reach out to for support.

  • Feeling like you can't talk to others about who you really are
  • Feeling sexually attracted to people of the same gender as you
  • Feeling like there's something wrong with you for not having any sexual desires
  • Feeling shame around how you identify
  • Wanting gender-affirming hormone supplements or surgery
  • Feeling like how you are on the outside doesn't represent who you are on the inside
  • Feelings of anxiety about not being accepted for who you really are
  • Wanting to come out but not knowing how

As an LGBTQ person, you deserve to be accepted, respected, and loved for who you are. If you’ve been treated unfairly by others because of your gender or sexual identity, it’s normal to feel intense negative emotions. Loneliness, confusion, and thoughts of suicide are often experienced by LGBTQ people.

There are dedicated LGBTQ-friendly crisis counselors in Ontario, Canada who can help you with any problems you may be experiencing as an LGBTQ person. If you're still questioning your gender and sexual identity, speaking to a compassionate listener can help.
