Lost a loved one? Grief support hotlines are available in Hong Kong

Healing after a loss takes time. The pain of the loss can feel so intense that you don't know how to cope or where to turn. Talking openly about the loss can help you feel better. In Hong Kong there are 9 support lines you can contact. Grieving can look like:

  • Weight loss or weight gain
  • A feeling of abandonment by the person you lost
  • Feeling extremely lonely and pining for the person or thing you lost
  • A sense of hopelessness and a bleak outlook about life without your loved one
  • Becoming tearful and crying more often and unexpectedly
  • Complete shock and feeling that the loss is not real
  • A feeling of deep sadness and emptiness
  • An inability to find pleasure in the activities you used to enjoy

It's normal to feel many different emotions when you're grieving. If you've never experienced grief or loss before, this can be scary. It might feel like you're losing control. However, what you're feeling is a completelty normal response to a significant loss.

You may feel that nobody will be able to relate to how you're feeling. However, there are people in Hong Kong who are open to hearing about your experiences and they want to support you. Talking openly about how you feel and having someone to listen to you can help you feel less alone.
